Otter Creek
Otter Creek may be small today, but it holds a unique place in Levy County’s history. In the 1930s and 1940s, it was the second largest town in the county. It's believed that Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto passed through the area in 1539 while searching for gold.
The town quieted after a major lumber mill closed and the rail lines were removed, but traces of its past remain. Visitors will find historic homes from the 1800s and early 1900s, quiet streets, and a glimpse of Old Florida. It's a peaceful stop for those who enjoy history, charm, and exploring off the beaten path.
